This series is dedicated to the state of lost stability that emerged in the context of emigration and the experience of “muteness"—when speaking about oneself in a familiar way becomes difficult. A new language, a different environment, and the gaze of others demand a reconstruction of the self, a learning to be heard, and adaptation to a new reality.
In the project, the mask becomes a way to materialize what is hard to express in words—inner tension, silence, and ambiguous emotions. The distorted faces reflect the moment when these experiences become visible but remain unresolved.
The work draws on the Jungian concept of the “shadow, ” suggesting that each of us carries unconscious aspects that shape our behavior and influence the way we perceive the world.
