Maria is an interdisciplinary artist, born in 1991 in Borovichi, Novgorod Region, Russia. Since 2022, she has been living and working in Georgia.
“In my work, I reinterpret conscious and unconscious phenomena of the modern world. The main theme of my art is the exploration of identity and the internal conflicts inherent in the image of a contemporary person, viewed through the lenses of history, philosophy, and psychology.
For my projects, I adhere to a reflective approach, providing viewers with space for contemplation and self-reflection, embodied through the relationships between individual and societal norms. I also employ a collaborative method, partnering with other artists and various organizations to create works that reflect a collective vision of contemporary reality.
Since 2023, I have been working with knitting, as it allows me to create complex and multilayered structures symbolizing the interweaving of various aspects of human experience. In my work, knitting serves as a metaphor for the complexity and uniqueness of individual life paths, emphasizing the process of internal self-analysis and transformation. This approach helps me express ideas related to personal growth, internal conflicts, and the interaction between humans and their environment.
Since October 2022, I have been a member of the horizontal creative initiative tmp_space, and since 2023, I have also been a part of the art group “Particles”.
