The work is based on my experience of trying to correct and recreate myself through constant self-devouring. The very process of reassembling the self is considered here as a mode of existence.

The idea of the object grew out of the formulations of the inner critic: “I am not professional enough, ” “it is too early for me to be there, ” “I still need to work on myself, ” etc. Behind them stands the idea of an ideal version of the self that can be reached through constant correction and self-improvement. This idea is destructive, because any achieved state once again turns out to be insufficient.

If this process is viewed outside the idea of a final result, self-devouring can be not only destructive, but also a form of growth, since processed experience becomes the basis for further movement.

That is why I chose the image of the ouroboros from mythology. It devours itself and continues to exist. What has been chewed becomes the material for the next turn, and the process becomes more important than the result.

This work became for me a personal statement and a wish: to process experience, knowledge, and oneself while preserving what is alive within — with mistakes, chaos, and the possibility of continuation.
